    It's Almost Time!

Just another day and a half until midnight, when the madness known as NaNoWriMo will start.

I've decided that I'm going to ML for my region, so it'll be an interesting experience.  How I'm going to write a novel, do my ML things, go to school, do homework, work, and do my volunteer work is beyond me.  All I know is that it'll take some serious time management.  But I'm positive I can get it all done.  And whatever work I can miraculously get done in the next few days will be very telling as well.  I already have my work schedule for the next couple weeks, so I'll be able to get through the first couple weeks okay.  Or at least that's what I'm hoping.

Next month will be one to remember, that's for sure.

    A Relatively Non-Insane Post

I'm completely different now.  Or it feels that way.  I can't bring myself to look at my old posts.  I just can't because it's a reiminder of how negative and destructive I used to be.  I won't deny that I still am that way and have the ability to be very self-destructive, but I'm trying to be more positive.  On the other hand, those posts are a reminder of how I used to be and of who I don't want to be.

I think sometimes I make myself believe something, even if I don't.  There were a lot of days that I have no idea how I got through, but I made myself get up and get through the day.  I faked my way through believing things would get better, and for the first time in a while, it seems like things are going okay.

Now it's time for sleep, because once November hits, there's no telling how sleep deprived I'll be!

    I've Been Planning!

I've been planning my novel.  I have a basic idea of my plot, but I have no idea what genre it'll be.  It could fall into several, but as I learned last year, the story will not always go into the genre you want it to be.  Last year's novel was supposed to be romance, but ended up being a drama, so I'm hesitant to actually pick a genre.

Basically, this year's novel (which is untitled at the moment), is about a museum of natural history in a fictional town called Appleton.  They get an exhibit of ancient artifacts from different countries, which sets off a series of weird and unexplainable events.  It's loosely based off of Night at the Museum, The Da Vinci Code and my own (and my coworker's) experiences at the Natural History Museum in San Diego.  And please note the word loosely.  It's a very important word because some things will be changed to protect...stuff.  What that stuff is I don't know, but I will be protecting...stuff.

I still have to work on the character list, which is probably one of the most important parts of the story.  I'll probably do that sometime next week...Tuesday perhaps, since I have essays due on Monday and Tuesday.  While those are nearly done, I will still dedicate the next few days to working on those essays.

  • It's That Time Of Year Again...

And, of course, I'm referring to The Month of Insanity.  I'm still working on a lot of details, like characters and character names and the plot.  I do have a general idea of what my plot will be, and I'm hoping I'll actually chronicle my efforts throughout the whole month, instead of not chronicling the experience like last year and with SF this year.

I can't believe how busy I'll be next month but I swear I'll write that novel...if it's the last thing I do.

  • It's Started!

Screnzy started this month, and of course, I put off writing anything for about a day or two.  But I managed to write 1500 in a day!  Plus the 500 or so I wrote yesterday, so now I'm up to about 2000 words already!  I'm still trying to get used to the formatting of a screenplay but I've decided to write in 10-20 minute blocks and then go back and work on the format.  It's kind of weird not having long paragraphs of description and thoughts but I have to work having dialogue anyway so it is a good chance to practice with a lot of dialogue.  And there's ways to get description and thoughts in there if they're absolutely necessary for the story.
